Woman Who Dumped Baby In Bush Blames It On No Job

A woman that deserted her child at a backyard of an apartment in Kuje, Abuja said she left the toddler to her fortune as she had no work or savings for the baby’s maintenance.

Favour Abdulazeez, was quoted as stating she abandoned the kid since she was separated and out of work.

She claimed when she kept the child in a container inside the forest, she did not go away yet concealed nearby to know who would decide on the infant so she could “do a follow-up”.

“All along, I was monitoring the baby’s situation, I know those who picked the baby and took her to the police,” Abdulazeez said.

“I was listening to their conversation from my hideout, I even followed them from a distance when they were taking my baby away,” she said.

She now wants the public assistance to care for the child.

 “I told the police that I would take care of my baby if only the government would assist me with a job or a trade no matter how small,’’ she pointed out.

The Police Area Command in Gwagwalada, FCT, Yahaya Musa, had on Friday declined discuss the matter, saying that he was not authorized to talk to newsmen on the concern.

Hanatu Turu, Head of the Social Welfare Department of Gwagwalada Area Council, pointed out that she was aware of the accident. She claimed police should be enabled in conclusion their examinations.

Abdulazeez was stated to have been delivered of the baby lady on June THIRTEEN and secretly placed her in a carton and took her to a close-by shrub behind her house in the evening, where she abandoned the child.

A homeowner in the location, who pleaded anonymity, informed NAN that Abdulazeez is her neighor, adding that it was the cry of the baby that attracted the focus of passers-by that later took the infant to the police outstation.
