DG: NITDA Needs Lot of Knowledge and Creativity to Succeed

Dr. Isa Ibrahim said this while addressing workers of the agency in Abuja, adding that he would be guided by the principles of fairness, transparency and established process in leading the agency.

He said, “The NITDA is a very strategic agency. It is one of the most knowledge-based government institutions that require a harmonious blend of knowledge and creativity.

“Section 6 of the enabling law empowers the agency to plan, develop, coordinate and monitor all matters relating to Information Technology practices, activities and systems in Nigeria.

“Clearly, the agency is crucial to the technological aspiration and development of our country in this ruthlessly competitive global world where we can’t afford the luxury to lag behind. This is particularly true in these challenging economic times when our country dearly needs Information and Communications Technology in its bid to diversify its economy.”

He added, “I will like to remind all staff members that the attainment of the objectives that the NITDA was set up to achieve is a collective responsibility of all workers. My role as the DG/CEO is to provide the leadership, guidance, supervision and motivation to harness all available resources towards the realisation of our goals.

“In this task, I will be guided by the rule of law, established processes and procedures, equity and fair play. Accordingly, I will seek and require the support and cooperation of all workers. I want all of you to rededicate your energies and creativity towards moving the agency forward. I want your commitment to ensure the success of the NITDA and, by extension, the creation of a modern, IT-driven Nigerian society.”

He added that he would give priority to workers’ welfare in order to motivate them to do their best.

In another development, the Minister of Communications, Chief Adebayo Shittu, said that the Federal Government would create six new hubs for the development and growth of the ICT platforms and empowerment.

Shittu, who said this when managers of Global Y Combinators and Ventures Platform paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja, added that that the hubs would ensure that the ICT development went round the country.

The Global Y Combinators and Ventures Platform leader, Mr. Michael Isabel, said the mission of the group was to invest in the nation’s IT sector and empower the youths.
