The Federal Road Safety Corps says it will begin the full enforcement of speed limiting device expected to be installed in vehicles in Janaury, 2017.
It said this in a statement even as it announced that about 2,800 commercial vehicle drivers had been booked for failing to install the device in their vehicles on the first day of the advisory enforcement.
The corps had given owners of all commercial vehicles nationwide September 30 as deadline for the installation of the device and commenced the advisory enforcement on October 1.
A statement by the FRSC quoted its Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, as expressing satisfaction with the enforcement of the speed limiting device nationwide.
Oyeyemi said the advisory enforcement was a subtle force that would entail stopping commercial vehicles and verifying electronically whether the devise had been fixed.
