Garba who chairs the House committee on constituency outreach and also doubles as member committee on IDPs said that there was need for the authorities to urgently review NEMA’s budget allocation.
He noted that the allocation of over N1bn to the organization is inconsequential in view of its enormous responsibilities.
He noted that if the allocation is not reviewed, the living conditions of over 4m internally displaced persons scattered across the country would worsen.
“According to the records available in the North East alone on daily basis NEMA caters the need of over two million IDPs,” he said.
In their separate remarks, the Speaker, Adamawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Mijinyawa and Lamido of Adamawa who was represented by Dan Galadiman Adamawa Lawal Ribadu thanked the member for identifying with the victims of the fire incident.
Speaking on behalf of the traders, Alhaji Aliyu Kachalla, who is the chairman Yola South Traders Association thanked the member for the gesture promising to distribute the relief package judiciously.
