The change of defence counsel yesterday obstructed the trial of former Chief of Defence Staff, retired Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh at a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Badeh’s case, which was initially handled by Samuel Zibiri (SAN), was yesterday taken over by Akin Olujimi (SAN). Olujimi in his first appearance told Justice Okon Abang that he needed time to study the case file.
The case was adjourned to March 16 for hearing.
Badeh was charged alongside Iyalikam Nig Ltd, a company believed to be owned by him, on a 10-count charge of criminal breach of trust and corruption to the tune of N3.9 billion, after he allegedly diverted funds belonging to NAF for purchase of shopping complexes.
Meanwhile, sources said Badeh, who was on Thursday granted a N2 billion bail bond, was still being held at the Kuje Prisons in Abuja after he failed to meet the bail conditions.
The judge had ordered Badeh to produce two sureties in the sum of N1 billion each.
