The former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Alex Badeh, is yet to fulfill his bail condition, 11 days after Justice Okon Abang granted him bail.
Badeh was granted bail in the sum of N2b with the following conditions:
1. He is to present two sureties in the sum of N1b each.
2. Sureties must have properties in Abuja, and must be ready to deposit the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) during the period of Badeh’s trial.
3. Justice Abang also directed the Chief Registrar of the court to verify the authenticity of the C of O and value of the property with the Federal Capital Territory Development Administration (FCTDA).
Punch reports that the former CDS has filed an application in court seeking for the re-consideration of the bail conditions.
Speaking on the matter, Badeh’s Lawyer, Mr. Samuel Zibiri (SAN), said “We filed an application to vary the bail condition from two sureties with landed property worth N1bn each to be varied to require surety who owns property in Abuja which is of considerable value.”
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accused Alex Badeh of stealing over N3b from the coffers of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) between January and December 2013.
The former CDS was granted bail by Justice Okon Abang on March 10, 2016.
