It has always been a thing of joy to be called upon to serve as a bridesmaid to a friend, colleague, cousin, or whoever. Besides the million trips to the tailor’s for fittings, the rehearsals and the usually expensive bridal train package, it’s actually fun being a bridesmaid. You get to play dress up, doll up and possibly catch the bouquet in the end. But it’s all fun and games until you meet a real-life bridezilla.

One lady anonymously wrote on Mamania, venting all her frustrations about her friend Carol, who turned into a bridezilla.

It started when Carol began asking for the bridesmaids’ input on everything, from the buttonholes for groomsmen to table decorations to sending emails to her bridesmaids at their workplaces, demanding that they supply detailed Excel spreadsheets that day with cake maker details including price brackets, cake flavors and an idea of how prestigious the cake maker was.

Below is an example of the emails she sends:

Hey Hayley, How’s it going? I need some cake-maker suggestions by COB today please, Jase and I really want to get a wriggle on with this and need the contact details, price brackets, flavours and an idea of how prestigious the vendor is – in a table would be great. Excel is probably best please. Thanks!”

“I felt my blood boiling. I have a full-time job, for crying out loud, how am I meant to get all this info by then?”

“On Saturday morning I cancelled my breakfast plans, instead researching Tasmanian wedding cake-makers (she’d decided to have a picturesque destination wedding) that might be suitable. I sent it through to her and had a reply almost immediately”.

But instead of gratitude, she received response from the bride saying; “Thanks for this, would’ve been really helpful to have it yesterday when specified but I appreciate it.”

After shopping for three consecutive weekends to find the perfect wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses — a lot of time to ask seven friends to dedicate to your wedding day.

Carol found a gorgeous designer wedding dress, but it was priced at $10,500 — twice the amount she had planned to spend in her budget for a gown.

Carol then asked her bridesmaids to contribute to her wedding gown, saying that it will be a sentimental treasure that all the bridesmaids would have a part in if they paid for it. This was after they had already contributed to covering the costs involved with the wedding, like costs of accommodation, the hen’s party, and three spa days the bride wanted before the wedding.

My bank account was already taking a battering from the wedding and now this? she said
