A wedding is supposed to be the bride’s day where she gets to wear what she wants as she walks down the aisle to marry the love of her life. And of course, with weddings comes a lot of traditions, like wearing a white gown which symbolizes a woman’s purity.
However, today in this modern world, we already saw women getting married in gowns not in white color. Some wear red, blue, violet, yellow, or any color that they please and people seem to be okay with it. Besides, it’s the bride’s day. Why should we ruin it by commenting that the color is inappropriate? Such is the experience of Sophie Cachia, an Australian blogger who mostly writes about being a mom.
Before she got married to her fiancé, she already gave birth to their son Bobby. But the October bride did not expect that her wedding will become controversial. Why? Because she chose to wear a black wedding gown. To clarify to people about why she wore black on her wedding, she wrote this: “The first thing I must state is that my choice had NOTHING to do with the old ‘white wedding dresses are for virgins.”
“Evidently, though, my 18-month-old son Bobby is proof that that boat sailed years ago. I only assume that throughout my experiences and knowledge of our generation that if only virgins wore white, we’d be seeing more of an array of multi-colored brides.”
“If you were to specifically ask me why I wore black on my wedding day, I can only answer in the most honest and direct way possible; because I wanted to.” Share on Facebook Share on Twitter “Black is classic.” “It looks good on just about everyone.” “It’s bold, it’s sexy, it’s daring.” “I find wearing black to be extremely striking, hence why it’s my go-to choice of color to wear on any occasion.”
“These reasons stated above, combined with the fact that my now husband suggested I wear black when we first got engaged, as he knows how much I like to wear it, were the reasons I did so.” The stunning black wedding dress was designed by Anthony Montesano from Signor Mont Couture, and Cachia claims he “had always wanted to do a black bride but had never met anyone with the confidence nor vision to do so in their head.”
