Heineken Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2016 comes with a lot of retail incentives for designers and buyers this year.
Founder of Lagos Fashion & Design Week and Style House Files Omoyemi Akerele revealed the 2016 edition of the annual fashion week tagged ‘Connecting The Dots‘ will feature more retail experience amongst other factors lined up for the 6th edition at the Press Cocktail for the fashion week 11th October 2016.
She stressed the need for designers to sell products in the end raising the questions of finance, production, mutually beneficial partnerships and so on that ensures that designers get access to locally produced materials and in turn provide products across to consumers.
Akerele highlighted the importance of consumers/buyers getting access to runway pieces which she revealed would be in place this year as consumers will be able to purchase pieces off the runway. She says the fashion week is “looking beyond fashion to exploring other ways to make the business profitable and of good quality.
The year kicked off with the Style House Files initiative heading for an International Fashion Showcase in London where some of “Nigerian designers who were able to network and connect with people from different parts of the world which created an opportunity to engage with audience beyond fashion” Akerelerevealed.
Akerele also noted the need for skill acquisition for people interested in pursuing a career in designing, manufacturing as she revealed the partnership with NERC for skill acquisition for people interested in taking courses in fashion designing educating the new crop of creatives.
A lot of exciting things are in the offing for this year’s fashion week and finally connecting the products to the final consumers take centrestage for the 2016 edition.
