The aggrieved member of the Youth Wing of Christians Association of Nigerian (YOWICAN), Barr. Kwamkur Samuel has withdrawn his suit against the Christians Association of Nigerian (CAN), which he instituted against the association in March 2015.

Samuel, who was the candidate of TEKAN-ECWA in youth CAN election, explained that after several meetings with the leadership of CAN concerning the case, they concluded that that election cannot stand, and the election was cancelled based on the Committee’s report which was adopted.

According to him, however, contrary to his expectation that a fresh election would be conducted for him, the same person was returned as the leader of the youth wing of CAN.

“Haven seen the depth of the conspiracy in the case, I decided to hands off and I have agreed by every standard that I will not raise any issue concerning the election again, because my destiny is in the hands of God and not man,” he said.

He also explained that the case was withdrawn following the intervention by the national leader of CAN, and there was no need for him to continue with the case, because to the respect he has for the CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.

He further expressed disappointment that while other religious groups respect and honour their leaders, Christians look down on their leaders, “It is a common thing to see any Christians come on air to call for the arrest of their leader, that he is a thief, such action is not honourable.

“Christians should learn to respect their leaders and at this trying moment of this country, religious leaders should be respected and the CAN leadership that harmonies the activities of the church in Nigeria should also be respected.

“It is my desire that the CAN leaders will do their best to provide credible and dependable leadership for the Christians of Nigeria, because Christians are suffering,” he said.

It would be recalled that in March 2015, the Youth Wing of CAN had crisis as a result of their election, where Barr. Samuel Kwamkur who was the candidate that was nominated and endorsed and sent to camp, was later substituted with another candidate without reason.

He decided to take CAN to court, praying the court to declare the election null and void, so that the election will be reorganised without interference from the CAN executives.
