After completing the move for former Golden Eaglets captain, Kelechi Nwakali, Arsenal has reignited its move for another Nigerian youth sensation, Samuel Chukwueze.
According to fresh information, the deal which had almost fallen through because of disagreement over the payment of the player’s transfer fee between the London club and Nigeria’s Diamond Academy has been reignited.
Chukwueze’s Diamond Academy wanted a percentage of the midfielder’s transfer fee to be paid immediately but the Emirates board disagreed, stating that it can only part with money after the player attains the age of majority.
“There was a little bit of hitch, at the end of the day it was resolved if and only if Diamond Academy agree.
“Arsenal want to pay Chukwueze’s transfer fee when he is 18, Diamond felt it was too far for them. But they should agree,” All Nigeria Soccer quoted a source close to the Nigeria U17 international as saying.
Samuel Chukwueze, who is 16 years old, has been linked with a possible move to Red Bull Salzburg and has been proposed to German Bundesliga clubs, but has made it known in clear terms that he wants to begin his professional career at Arsenal.
He assisted the Nigeria U17s triumph at the 2015 Fifa Under 17 World Cup, scoring three goals and notching three assists.
