Bindow Threatens To Indict Nyako Of Fraud


The frosty relationship and in fighting between Adamawa State Governor Muhammadu Jibrilla Bindow and former Governor Murtala Nyako has assumed a serious dimension with Bindow threatening to sign a White Paper indicting Nyako’s administration for misappropriation of state funds.

Governor Bindow gave the threat while addressing a new political support group known as “Team Bindow” who paid him a solidarity visit at Government House on Wednesday.

Bindow said, “Some, if not all stakeholders, including my Executive members, are urging me to sign the report of the panel of investigation I had earlier set up to look into Nyako’s administration.”

Bindow said that he had had enough of efforts by Nyako group to frustrate his administration.

The governor who spoke in Hausa said already, there is a White Paper before him from the Late Justice Bobboi Umar Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up by Alhaji Umar Fintiri who served as Acting Governor and which indicted Nyako administration.

He said, “I have a White Paper before me indicting that administration which I don’t want to sign but if I am pushed to the wall, I will sign it and wait for whatever will happen. This is because many people are urging me to sign but I am reluctant to do so.

“Honestly, I have no intention to expose anybody in my life but if pushed to the wall, I swear in the name of Allah and Qur’an, I will sign the White Paper against former Governor Murtala Nyako’s government which as I am addressing you is on my table now.

“It is unfortunate that some people not minding their status and age in our society are lying to their followers against us all in the name of working to come back as Governor of our state by all means”, Governor Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow lambasted.

Governor Jibrilla Bindow who warned that “those in glass house should not throw stones revealed that his administration awarded a 5. 7 kilometres road contract with drainage in Yola metropolis at the cost of N692 million while similar contract of 4.3 kilometre in the metropolis was awarded by Nyako administration at the cost of N2.6 billion.

“I recently awarded contract for the 37 kilometres Kiri-Shelleng road at the cost of N3.2 billion while Nyako administration awarded the 37 kilometres Pela–Maiha road contract at the cost of N9.3 billion,” Bindow said.

The governor who was furious during the address alleged that in an attempt to blackmail him, some Nyako supporters had resorted to digging holes in the roads he constructed to give the public the picture that his roads were substandard.

“Somebody was seen in the midnight digging hole on Yola bye-pass road to give the impression that the roads are substandard.

“They will snap pictures of the damaged roads and put it on Facebook to blackmail me,” Bindow said.

He lauded the group for their confidence in him and said that his emergence as governor was the popular wish of the people and he was set to work for the people.

He called for prayers from Adamawa people against his traducers, adding that whoever was against his administration was against Adamawa people.

Various speakers from “Team Bindow” that spoke earlier on the occasion, said the group which comprises 200 associations came on solidarity visit to declare their support to his administration for its selfless developmental strides to the people.
