CBN Plans Visit To IDP Camps

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is set to visit the camps of the Internally Displaced persons in the northern part of the country and support them with humanitarian aids which is part of the social responsibility of the Apex bank.

This was revealed by the immediate past national president of the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA) and Head, Project Planning and Implementation Division of the CBN, Alhaji Muhammadu Kabiru Nuhu-Koko when he was awarded the Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna Platinum leadership award certificate of credence as the Garkuwan Matasan Arewa by the Northern Youth Network (NYN).

Nuhu-Koko who stated that already, the CBN governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele had sent representatives of the bank to go round the camps and report back, disclosed that many Nigerians live in ignorance of the banks’ responsibilities and do not utilise it as expected.

“Due to ignorance, people don’t know what CBN does. But it involves in intervention of small scale industries and gives loans to farmers. People who should know do not know and the monies are just lying there unattended to and sometimes, smaller banks use them for their businesses.

While acknowledging the award, he called on Nigerian youths to shun corruption as it is the bane of the county’s backwardness which has in turn affected it’s agricultural, educational and health sectors. Also, he called on them to be united with a unity of purpose as the future of the country lies with the youths.

The national leader of NYN, Comrade Mike Msuah during the presentation, said the award was presented to Nuhu-Koko after several and intensive deliberations and he was found to have undying passion for Nigeria, his contributions and commitment to financial transparency, youth development an societal transformation.
