Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded rerun election in Benue South senatorial district, Daniel Onjeh, has rejected the result of the election
Former Senate President David Mark was declared winner of the election after he polled a total of 84 192 votes to beat Onjeh, who scored 71 621 votes.
Onjeh said in a statement on Tuesday that: “The election was inconclusive and INEC ought not to have declared him (Mark) winner because the purported margin of victory – 12 500 votes – is far less than the 29 000 votes that were cancelled and rejected from across the polling units and wards.”
He described INEC’s resolve to announce the result as inexplicable, perplexing and clearly points to compromise and collusion.
Onjeh also accused the former Senate president of allegedly tampering with the electoral materials to perfect what he called electoral fraud
