Bayelsa APC: Court Stops Sylva’s Faction From Parading As Party Leaders

The crisis bedevilling the Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) may have deepened as the faction loyal to former Govenor Timiprye Sylva has been barred from parading themselves as the executives of APC in the state.

A motion exparte injunction granted by a Bayelsa State high court in Sagbama yesterday, banned Joseph Fafi, the factional leader of the state APC and his executives who are loyal to the former leader of Bayelsa APC, Chief Timipre Sylva, from parading themselves as party leaders and from disrupting the activities of the authentic party executives.

The injunction further  restrained the defendants namely Mr Joseph Fafi, Mr Tonye Okio, Mr Fortune Parnebi and Mr Alabo Martins from interfering or stopping the claimants from functioning in their respective offices as chairman, vice chairman and secretary of the All Progressives Congress pending the determination of the motion on notice.

A statement signed in Abuja yesterday by the chairman of APC in Bayelsa State, Tiwei also said that the exparte injunctions also bars the defendants from both establishing a disciplinary panel to investigate the ongoing crises and function in the capacities of the claimants.

The exparte injuction issued on the  11th April, 2016 signed by Abalando M. Deseghafuo, the chief of  court administrator reads:

“An order of ex parte injunction restraining the 1st – 4th defendants from interfering or stopping the 1st – 3rd claimants from functioning in their respective offices as state chairman, state deputy chairman and state secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Bayelsa State chapter pending the determination of motion on notice.

“An order of ex parte injunction restraining the 1st – 4th from taking any step like setting up a disciplinary committee.
