President Muhammadu Buhari has heeded to the advice of Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka to convene an emergency economic meeting to recommend specific solutions to the nation’s prevailing economic challenges, reports Punch.
The President has approved the convocation of the national economic conference.
The conference according to government sources is aimed at rallying the country together to offer solutions to the current economic challenges facing Nigeria.
The conference has tentatively been fixed for March 10 and 11.
In approving the idea, the President himself would declare the conference open and participate fully in order to demonstrate his personal commitment to the idea.
Well-respected global experts are expected at the conference to aggregate the views of other governmental, inter-governmental and non-governmental institutions.
It would be recalled that Soyinka had during his visit to the Minister of Information on February 18 recommended the convocation of the conference.
