The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki said the amended Act shall be “a great relief for both students and parents as it will reduce their financial and psychological burdens”.
The Bill for an Act to amend the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Act 2016 was passed into the law by the Senate, on Thursday.
The Bill was unanimously passed after the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Education and TETFUND, Senator Jibril Barau presented the report to the house.
The Act among other things, supports that JAMB applicants who could not gain admission into their institution of choice for the examination year could be offered admission the following year with the same JAMB result, but not exceeding a period of 3 years.
