Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson, has vowed to crush misguided youths involved in kidnapping, sea piracy, pipeline vandalism and other criminal activities in the state.
The governor spoke in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, on Wednesday during the orficial opening of command’s office of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and inauguration of gunboats for the command.
The event was attended by Dickson himself, his deputy, John Jonah, Commander, Joint Force, Operation Pulo Shield, Major General Alani Okunlola, Commissioner of Police, Peter Ogunyanwo, Deputy Commandant-General, NSCDC, Mr. O. Nnamdi and State Commandant, NSCDC, Desmond Agu, among others.
Dickson said his government in its second term would consolidate on security and development of the state.
The governor stated, “So, I want to use this opportunity to call on all misguided youths in this state that have decided to create instability, be they kidnappers, pipeline vandals, sea pirates or crude oil thieves to desist from those nefarious acts.
“With the support of our government, security forces and the cooperation of our citizenry, we are determined to crush all those that are involved in one criminal act or the others in our state.”
The governor said the inauguration of the gunboats was a demonstration and commitment of the NSCDC to play more role in the security architecture, noting that the command had been doing well in the protection of lives and critical national assets in the state.
