The Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha has appointed his wife Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha as Amnesty Committee boss to see to repented Avengers militants. Nneoma and her team on the committee are expected to come up with programmes to help the repented militants. The first lady and her team have three months to submit its programmes that will also address the grievances expressed by the repented militants.

Shell responds to alleged pipeline bombing Vanguard reports that “following the surrendering of arms and embracing of peace by Avenger militants fighting in the oil producing areas of Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta, the state governor, Rochas Okorocha, has inaugurated the Amnesty Committee, and two others, including the Committee on the Review of the Activities and Infrastructural Development of state owned higher institutions, and the Technical Committee for the take-off of the Eastern Palm University, Ogboko, Imo State.”
The governor then charged the amnesty committee to come up with ideas that would ensure the sustenance of the recently restored peace in the oil producing areas of Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta. He also requested that the committee should address all the issues that the militants who handed over their weapons raised when they surrendered. Vanguard reports that the Amnesty committee has three months to submit its report.
In a related vein, Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Acho Ihim was named the chairman of the committee on the Review of the Activities and Infrastructural Development on state owned Higher Institutions, with fifteen other members. Meanwhile, elder statesman and leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Coastal states Stakeholders’ Consultative Forum, Chief Edwin Clark has slammed the Niger Delta Avengers for allegedly going against a ceasefire agreement and bombing the Bonny Export( 48) inch pipeline on Friday, September 23, 2016. Clark, a former federal commissioner for Information, condemned the action of the agitators in a strongly worded statement, according to Vanguard.
