INEC Declares Kogi Senatorial Rerun Elections Inconclusive


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to declare winners for the Kogi-east and central senatorial rerun elections held on Saturday

In the Kogi-central Senatorial rerun election, Ahmed Salau Ogembe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 45 468, Senator Nurudeen Abatemi of the Progressive People Aliance (PPA) 31 163 while Dr. Moses Wakili of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) scored 9 962 according to results announced by the returning officer for the election, Salihu James.

James declared the election inconclusive, following the cancelation of over 20 000 votes due to disruption of voting in some polling units in Okene and Adavi.

In Kogi-east, the PDP candidate, Senator Atai Aidoko Ali polled 46 800 while the Labour Party candidate, Abdulwahab Yunusa polled 11 090 votes, going by results collated at the district level.
The returning officer for election also declared the election inconclusive following complaints brought by Yunusa,

Yinusa had complained about the margin between the LP and the PDP in the election.
