The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday reversed the earlier declaration of the Kogi central senatorial rerun as inconclusive.
The commission has declared Ahmed Ogembe of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of the election.
Ahmed Ogembe had scored 45 468 while Senator Nurudeen Abatemi of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), who was his closest challenger in the race polled 31 163.
But the INEC’s Returning Officer, Salihu James, declared the result inconclusive, following the cancellation of some votes due to disruption of voting in some polling units in Okene and Adavi.
The State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Halilu Pai, said on Monday that the earlier declaration of the election as inconclusive was a human error and directed that candidate of the PDP be declared winner of the election.
