Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to the statement credited to the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, saying recession is juts a word.
Fani-Kayode on social media said: “Those that say that “recession is just a word” are daft and insensitive. Those that say it with a low class cockney accent are an affliction.”
The account, @Mrskemiadeosun on micro-blogging platform, Twitter, played down the significance of a recession after the National Bureau of Statistics announced that Nigeria’s economy contracted by 2.06% in the second quarter, bringing the country into a long predicted recession.
“The strongest of all warriors are these two, time and patience. I know people are concerned about the recession. Recession is a word,” the handle tweeted.
Also, A video surfaced online confirming the audience of the statement.
Meanwhile, Festus Akanbi, spokesman for Mrs. Adeosun disowned the twitter account saying it was fake and the statements did not reflect the position of his principal.
The tweet statement has been deleted.
