Niger Delta Governors on Tuesday told Vice President Yemi Osinbajo that a majority of the corruption cases in the region handled by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), should be dropped if pipeline attacks must stop.
According to SAHARA REPORTERS, the meeting was attended by Governors of Edo, Ondo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Abia, as well as the Deputy Governor of Cross River. Only the Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole and the deputy Governor of Cross River reportedly opposed the suggestion.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, reportedly supported the governors who want corruption charges and all forms of corruption investigations against the Niger Delta politicians discontinued.
