“Nigerian Legislators Are Corrupt” – Obasanjo

Obasanjo and Buhari

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says he maintains his earlier position that the National Assembly is full of rogues and armed robbers.

The former president said this yesterday in his reaction to the allegations and counter-allegations currently trailing the padding of the 2016 budget, in the House of Representatives.

Obasanjo was addressing State House correspondents shortly after meeting behind closed-doors with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Asked if he was worried and saw the budget padding allegations as a confirmation of his statement in the past that the National Assembly was corrupt, he said: “Well, if you said that I have said it in the past and if there are people who didn’t believe what I said ‎in the past, then you now say that what has come out confirms what I said in the past, then, I can say what I said in the past is what I will say now.”
