PDP is campaigning for Eyitayo Jegede instead of Jimoh Ibrahim. In series of tweets on its official Twitter handle on Monday, October 31, the party said the reports were rumours because the case was still ongoing. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied reports making the rounds that Appeal Court has ruled in favour of Jimoh Ibrahim, the candidate of factional chairman of the party Ali Modu Sheriff.
It also blamed the rumours on the party’s detractors, who it claimed are trying to destabilize the party. PDP expressed confidence that the Appeal Court would rule in its favour. It said: “The rumour making the round that Appeal Court has decided in favour of Barr. Jimoh Ibrahim is false, null and void, this is the handiwork of confused elements working in cohorts to destabilize our great Party.
“The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja, FCT is still in progress and will decide after all matters before them are considered. “Our members, teeming supporters and the people of Ondo State should note this and ignore the rumour “We should all continue to pray for the success of our Party, the PDP and our Candidate, Eyitayo Jegede in the forthcoming Gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
We cannot be deterred by this temporary setback and we are hopeful that the Appeal Court decision will rewrite all the wrongs and restore peace in Ondo State.” Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to launch the campaign rally of Rotimi Akeredolu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo state. This was made known by Omo’ba Adesanya who is the state publicity secretary of the party.
