The embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff is expected to step down from the position in May.
In a new peace deal brokered by the party’s Governors’ Forum on Tuesday in Abuja, Sheriff is expected to hold forth pending the national convention of the party scheduled to hold in May.
The convention will usher in a new executive to superintend the party’s affairs.
Tuesday’s meeting was attended by major organs of the party, made up of the PDP Governors’ Forum, its Board of Trustees (BoT), National Assembly caucus, and the party’s National Working Commiittee (NWC)
The meeting was held at the Ondo State governor’s lodge in Asokoro.
Addressing journalists after the end of the’meeting, the Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo, who also is the Chairman of the party’s Governor’s Forum, said the party resolved to end the crisis over the leadership of the party and to forge ahead as one family.
