The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State, Salisu Mamuda has been arrested by the police, reports Daily Trust.
He was arrested on the orders of the state governor, Muhammad Badaru
Mamuda had recently accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) led state of spending over N400 million on the occasion of receiving defectors from PDP.
Mamuda wondereded why the governor, who has cited lack of funds for his inability to conduct local government elections in the state, would go ahead and spent such a huge amount to host the National Chairman of APC, who received 370 000 defectors from PDP
Gov Badaru was said not to be comfortable with the allegation and had threatened to drag the PDP Chairman to court.
Spokesman of the governor, Bello Zaki confirmed Mamuda’ arrest, noting that state Ministry of Justice, had been directed to seek for redress, on behalf of the state government from the court of law.
