Two undergraduates of the Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Endurance Ehichoya and David Eghosa, have been arrested while trying to defraud some unsuspecting applicants of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), recruitment exercise currently going on in the country.

A statement from the website of the Force, reports that the suspects who are both 21 years of age, were arrested by NAF Intelligence operatives, with the assistance of some staff of the Zenith Bank when they went to withdraw some money paid in by some of the victims who fell for their scam.

Their arrest was made possible following a message posted on Facebook by Ehichoya on June 25, 2016, requesting applicants to contact the Air Secretary, AVM CN Chukwu, through the GSM Number 08145038139 for enlistment assistance into the NAF.

The scam message also contained the photograph of the AVM Chukwu, to make the scam look real and authentic.

But when some prospective applicants called the number, Ehichoya would then direct them to pay the sum of N75,000 into a Savings Account number (6231232675) with Fidelity Bank.

However, when the operatives of the NAF Intelligence got wind of the scam, the placed a call to Ehichoya, wanting to retrieve as much information as possible to track him down. A request was made for him to provide another bank account on the ground that there is no Fidelity Bank closeby, and in the process, Ehichoya gave the account number of his accomplice, Eghosa, a Zenith Bank (2111200283).

The NAF, working with the officials of Zenith Bank, deployed their operatives from 81 Air Maritime Group, Benin to Ekpoma, to arrest Eghosa who was subsequently flown to Abuja for further investigation.

On realizing that Eghosa had been arrested, his relations got the police to arrest the prime suspect and handed him over to the NAF, who was also flown to Abuja for further investigation.

During interrogations, Eghosa reportedly confirmed that his friend, Ehichoya, is a serial scammer, and has been indulging in recruitment and local online dating scam using ladies’ names and photographs to defraud men online.

Two of the Facebook accounts operated by Endurance to commit fraud online are said to be Bridget Ehichoya Violetwhich he later renamed Ella Jonny Frosh, and Creflo A Dollar.

The suspects have now been handed over to the police for further investigation.
