The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Rickey Tarfa, for alleged unlawful obstruction of the course of justice.
Tarfa was arraigned today on two counts before Justice Aishat Opesanwo of a Lagos State High Court.
The senior advocate was said to have committed the offence on February 5, 2016.
In the charges, the EFCC alleged that Tarfa hid two financial crimes suspects – Gnahouse Nazaire and Senoue Modeste – in his car to prevent the EFCC from arresting them.
He was also accused of having an unlawful telephone conversation with a judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Mohammed Yunusa.
Tarfa pleaded not guilty to both counts.
Justice Opesanwo stood the matter down for 10 minutes to rule on Tarfa’s bail application.
