EFCC Yet To Impound Tompolo’s Property

The properties of ex-Niger Delta warlord, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, have not been impounded by security agencies in Warri, Delta State despite court order.

A Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered that Tompolo’s properties be impounded following his continued failure to honour court’s summons and his refusal to turn up at the offices of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on invitation.

Justice Buba ordered the anti-graft agency to take possession of the concerned assets pending when Tompolo makes himself available to answer charges against him.

The judge said if Tompolo failed to appear within three months of the order, the Federal Government may proceed to auction the assets and other properties.

But the one-storey building on Chief Agbamu Street in Bendel Estate widely known to belong to the former militant leader had no seals or tapes to indicate that it had been impounded.

Last week, some military men had diverted traffic away from the property in some unclear circumstances, but by Monday, the soldiers had left the area.
