Fire Engulfed Nigeria’s Popular Critic’s House And Properties (+Photos)

While many Nigerians were preparing for the early morning church service on Sunday, September 18, 2016, Owei Lakemfa, one of Nigeria’s most popular critic, was battling to put out the fire that was consuming his house. The source of the fire was not known at the time of filing this report, but Lakemfa said no life was lost as the inferno razed the ground floor of the building.

The wall of the ground floor of the building razed by fire “In the early hours of this morning, Sunday September 18, 2016, fire raged through the ground floor of my house and part of the first floor, but no life lost and only very minor injuries. We thank God for life,” he said on his Facebook wall.

The critic and analyst was three years ago elected as the Secretary-General of the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU), a coalition of trade unions in African countries. The election held at the 10th congress of the body in Algiers, Algeria. As the Secretary-General of union, Lakemfa, a former journalist and former acting general secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) took over from another Nigerian Hassan Summonu.
