An Egor Magistrate Court has remanded one 37-year-old Maurine Daniel, in prison for abducting a 17-year-old girl for prostitution.
Daniel was alleged to have taken the victim to Libya for prostitution.
Police prosecutor, C.S.O Nnamdi, said the accused person with others now at large committed the offence in August 2015.
Nnamdi said the offence contravened section 16 (2) and 14(b) of the trafficking in persons (Prohibition) enforcement and administration act, 2015.
The accused person’s plea was not taken by the court.
Presiding Magistrates, Mr. W.E. Aziegbemhin, held that the court lacks the jurisdiction to entertain the case, and order that the duplicated copy of the case file would be send to Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The judge remanded the accused in prison and adjourned the case to May 6 for mentioning.
