Some suspected thieves on Wednesday night stabbed a middle-aged man on the head and snatched his iPad under the flyover at Zuba, Abuja.
A witness said the incident happened at about 9:45p.m. when the victim was trekking from Dan-Kogi filling station to the bridge.
Narrating the incident, the witness said after arriving under the bridge, two people, suspected to be thieves, descended on the man with a knife and inflicted cuts on him.
“They stabbed him and made away with his iPad leaving him bleeding. It was members of the vigilante group on patrol in the area who saw him and took him to the police station,” he said.
Our reporter learnt that the victim was later conveyed to a private hospital in the area for treatment.
In another incident, a man lost his commercial motorcycle to some suspected motorcycle snatchers on Saturday night near Dei-Dei junction also in Zuba.
Our reporter gathered that the two suspects, who pretended to be passengers, flagged down the motorcyclist at Zuba and that it was while he was conveying them to Unguwar-Tasha area at Dei-Dei, that they forced him, at gun point, to divert to an unknown place from where they escaped with his motorcycle.
A member of the vigilante group, who confirmed the incident, said there were increasing cases of motorcycle snatching in the area. He said the vigilante members have arrested and handed the hoodlums to the police.
Efforts to get reaction of the Zuba divisional police officer were not successful, but a police officer at the station confirmed one of the incidents, which he said involved a man that was stabbed under a bridge at Zuba.
He disclosed that the victim was taken to hospital while investigation was still on. He however said the division was not aware of motorcycle snatching at Dei-Dei.
