The demand for second clothes has been on the rise in recent times, some of the customers who prefer it give their reasons.
Choice for second hand clothes in Kaduna State Metropolis, North Western Nigeria is on the increase, Pulse has gathered.
The second hand clothes popularly known in Kaduna as ‘bend down boutique’ or ‘Okrika’ is thriving in Kasuwa Barchi, and according to some residents, has more uniqueness than other clothes they buy in shops.
Pulse gathered that residents of Kaduna patronize the second hand clothes not just because they are cheaper and most times of better quality than the new ones, others has different opinion.
“Let me tell you, we get more sells of the second hand cloths than those who sell in boutiques,” a trader in Kaduna,” Shehu Usman said.
He said different classes of people ranging from both the poor and the rich patronize the second hand clothes sellers.
A customer, Mrs Martha Garba said because the second hand clothes are cheaper and good, some of them prefer them than cloths displayed in boutiques.
“The clothes you will get at the second hand markets, you hardly see it on someone body unlike the one you buy in shops. Sometimes, the clothes you buy in boutiques always have replica which always look like uniform” She said.
Another customer, Aisha Mohammed said, “When you are walking on the street, you see many people wearing a cloth that is the same with yours. But the second hand cloths are not like that and that is why we patronized them. Not only that, with the economic situation in the country, I rather go for cheaper and unique clothes.”
