Fresh facts have emerged on the circumstances surrounding the death of a France-based businessman, Mr. Lowo Oyediran, who was allegedly murdered by his wife, Yewande, at their residence in Adeniyi Street, Abidi Odan area of General Gas, Akobo, Ibadan in the early hours of Tuesday, February 2.
Head of Ajanaku Family, Mr. Adelani Oyediran, told newsmen in Gbongan, in Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State yesterday that Lowo’s wife, Yewande, 36, allegedly stabbed her husband with scissors in the back and shoulder at 12 midnight earlier on Tuesday before she purportedly stabbed him with a knife in the neck at about 3:00a.m. same night, which eventually led to his death.
“We believe that the police will do a thorough job and the case will get to court. We believe in the judiciary. But, we have fear that some people may want to manipulate some things because the accused is a lawyer and she works with the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) in Oyo State Ministry of Justice. All the family wants is justice in this case. We don’t want any game at all. We don’t want justice to be perverted,” he said.
According to Oyediran, the bone of contention was the fact that Lowo had a son from another woman in France, whereas his three-year marriage with Yewande had not produced any issue. The domestic dispute was said to have occurred when she purportedly discovered that her husband had a son from another woman.
Lowo, a holder of French citizenship, was billed to return to France tomorrow (Saturday). Rather, he was dispatched to an early grave by his wife. Continuing, Oyediran said his wife allegedly stabbed him with scissors which attracted the attention of the landlord and other neighbours, who rushed Lowo to a nearby hospital. He was treated and discharged.
But while in the hospital, Lowo gave his phone to somebody, who snapped him. He was said to have sent the picture to his official email address in France. But his business partner, Mikel, automatically received the picture, showing blood oozing from his body. He wore only a boxer in the picture.
Oyediran stated that the landlord and other neighbours mediated in the development and settled the case amicably for the duo. He accused Yewande of stabbing Lowo in the neck while the latter was asleep.
Lowo and Yewande, he stated, got married on February 9, 2013 at the Cathedral of St Peters’ Aremo, Ibadan. He said Lowo travelled to France in 2006 and did not come back to Nigeria until 2013 when he got married. He explained that Lowo contacted him in 2012 that he wanted a responsible Nigerian lady to marry and Yewande was introduced to the family by her younger sister, who got married to a native of Gbongan based in the United State. His family, he said, arranged for how Lowo and Yewande met in Dubai before they decided to get married.
Lowo was said to have started his tertiary education in Agric-Economics at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, before he got admission to the University of Grenoble in France, where he studied Business Administration. He was said to have gone into business partnership with Mikel, a Swedish, and formed Coz Can Alaqua, a France-based company with interest in developing agriculture in Nigeria.
