A 42-year-old woman, Christian Eyenobong on Friday, begged an Agege Customary Court to end his six-year-old marriage to Peace, alleging that she was a ferocious person.
Christian who lives at No. 33B, Olatunde Close, Oke-Ira in Ogba, Lagos State, appeared in court on April 21, told the court that his wife was in the habit of beating him and their four-year-old daughter anytime she was angry.
“My wife has not cooked for me for the past four years, saying if she does she will poison me,” he said.
He also said that his wife had refused him access to her sexually and was always threatening him with dangerous weapons such as cutlasses and stones whenever he tried getting closer to her.
He added that his wife had refused their daughter from going to school.
“l had to report her to the Office of the Public Defender (OPD).
“She was arrested for fighting with the officials of the OPD.
“My daughter was taken away by the social welfare to the Juvenile Centre at Alakara, Idioro area of Mushin, Lagos State, when her troubles were becoming unbearable.
“My lord, I want an end to this marriage because I cannot cope with my wife’s trouble and violent attitude,” the petitioner said.
He urged the court to grant him custody of the child.
It was reported that due to the absence of the respondent for the second time, the petitioner was asked to obtain a proof of service to allow the case to proceed with or without the respondent.
The Court’s President, Mr Philip Williams, therefore, adjourned the case till May 20, for further hearing.
