Governor Lalong Mourns Director Of NAN, Mallam Sani Adamu

The Governor who is one of the earliest to send a condolence message to the family of the late Adamu, expressing deep shock over the news of the sudden death of the veteran journalist.

The Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, is yet to come to terms with the demise of the late Director of Multi-Media Services of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mallam Sani Adamu who died on Sunday, September 25, 2016.

In a statement issued by the Governor on Monday in Johannesburg, South Africa, and signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mark Longyen, Lalong commiserated with the family of the deceased, the Management and staff of NAN, as well as the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) and Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Recounting his last encounter with the late Adamu in May this year when he featured on a NAN Media Forum, co-anchored by the deceased, Lalong described him as an ‘accomplished,distinguished thoroughbred professional journalist and one in a million who will be greatly missed by many.’

Lalong added that the late senior journalist contributed immeasurably to the development of democracy and the journalism profession in Nigeria and beyond as a ‘prolific features writer who rose to the zenith  of his career in NAN and played conspicuously crucial roles as a prominent member of the NGE and NUJ before his death.’

The Governor urged the younger journalists Adamu left behind to emulate him and also prayed God to grant the family and the people and government of his state, Bauchi, the fortitude to bear the ‘irreparable loss and unfortunate demise of their illustrious son, father, husband and ambassador.’

“God has mandated that all men must die some day and their souls must transit to eternity at God’s appointed time.

I wish the departed journalist eternal rest and peaceful repose of his soul,” Lalong concluded.
