Shiites residing in the house were also attacked by the mob believed to be residents of the area.
Premium Times quoted a witness saying, ”I was wondering what was going on this morning when I saw the youth in hundreds setting the house on fire.
”Before the security operatives could come all of them had gone.”
Sahabi is the reported leader of the Shi’ites in Kaduna.
The area has been cordoned by security operatives.
“We are standing at a distance to see what next is going to happen. But there is peace around the area,” the witness added.
This comes a day after soldiers surrounded a Shiite mosque in Kaduna as they gathered to celebrate the Muslim holiday of Ashura – which is symbolic to Shiites worldwide.
Shiites have been banned by the Kaduna state government, which claims they are an ‘unlawful society’.
