Four strippers have all been charged with first-degree murder for setting up a man and shooting him in the back.
Brittany Curry, 28, Ponesha Taylor, 23, Johniesha Simmons, 19, and Lauteshia Dotson, 23, all from Tennessee, killed Ralph Cross, 55, at his home in Missouri. Mr Cross met the ladies when their car was disabled on the side of the road with a busted tire on Monday. He bought a new tire for them, then allowed them to stay in his home while he worked on their vehicle.
While at his house, the women later robbed and murdered him. Cross was found dead inside his home on Tuesday. Authorities said he died of a gunshot wound to the back. They believe the women may have used a 9mm handgun to kill him. Acting Sheriff Branden Caid said Curry was the one who shot him. Cross was last seen in his house around 6.30 to 6.45am on August 1, shortly before his death.
A witness told authorities that Cross was arguing with three of the women while the fourth woman sat in a white car parked in front of the home. As Cross was walking down the street toward his own home, the witness said he heard a noise and saw the three women hurry out of the house to get into the car. Fingerprints lifted from the car led to one of the women, Dotson.
Authorities said they believe the motive for the crime was robbery. Cross’ couch cushions were turned over and pockets had been turned out of pants, indicating the home had been searched.
The women turned themselves in at the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office on August 3. They admitted to being at Cross’ home on July 31 and August 1 but none of them admitted to the murder. They have all been charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. They are all being held in separate facilities without bond.
