Wikki Tourists captain and right back, Mustapha Ibrahim has insisted on victory or nothing against top-flight newcomers, Plateau United.
The top-flight leaders will square up against the Tin City landlords in Wednesday’s Federation Cup round of 16 clash at the Akure Township Stadium.
Ibrahim said the Cup test will put to rest who are the best after each side emerged winners in the top-flight clash.
“We are expecting nothing short of outright victory against Plateau United perhaps to settle a score over who are the best side in the land.
“We won 3-0 in Bauchi in top-flight first fixture clash while Plateau United won 2-0 in the reverse fixture in Jos.
“We want to use today’s (Wednesday) Federation Cup clash to prove to them that their win in Jos was a mere mistake.
“Today (Wednesday) is a moment of reality and the neutral ground in Akure appears just right for the test contest and we will emerge the winners at the end of the day.
“We are in pursuing two races to win the league shield as well as the Federation Cup title.
“Today’s victory will take us straight to the quarterfinals leaving us with the semis and final to head to the continent.
“The league contest is still a race so we will bank more on the Cup as well as maximise the opportunity therein.
“A win in the Cup clash will certainly boost our confidence to confront NPFL newcomers, Niger Tornadoes in matchday 27 clash at their den in Lokoja,” said the Wikki Tourists strongman to supersport.com.
The Bauchi landlords edged Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Kogi United in the round of 32 while the Jos outfit were the better side against the Makurdi campaigners, Dream FC to pave the way for the clash for a place in the quarters.
