As if another Summer of frustrating inactivity in the transfer market wasn’t infuriating enough for Arsenal fans to endure, they could now see one of their biggest shareholders withdraw his stake in the club and move it to another Premier League outfit.
Uzbeki businessman Alisher Usmanov, who owns a 30.4% stake in the club, is believed to be ready to sell up and instead invest in Everton. According to arseblog.com, due to Usmanov’s complete lack of a relationship with 67% majority shareholder Stan Kroenke and the non-existent chance of him being offered a position of any sort of influence at the club, he’s now targeting Everton as his Premier League team of choice.
In order to do that though, he would need to find a buyer for his shares, as he is highly unlikely to sell to the American’s KSE group.
The news will worry Arsenal fans, who will not be too thrilled to see a major investor favouring another Premier League club, especially at a time when the Gunners seem to be falling behind their free spending title rivals such as the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea.
