N’Golo Kante is unsurprisingly already a hit at Stamford Bridge. The addition of another defensive minded central midfielder alongside Nemanja Matic has shored things up and given Matic a little more freedom. And the former Leicester man is such a hit he’s already got a new nickname.
English isn’t Eden Hazard or Kante’s first language so we’re going to give Hazard a bit of a let off here because we aren’t sure calling your new pal a ‘rat’ is necessarily the nicest of nicknames he could be given but still.
The Belgian winger was back to his best as Chelsea easily disposed of Burnley yesterday and speaking to Chelsea TV after the match the former Lille man gave his new colleague the moniker of ‘The Rat’ because of his ability to scurry around the pitch and be everywhere- nice idea, wrong word. Here’s Kante’s reaction to finding out his new name:
Antonio Conte’s side are one of only three, along with the two Manchester clubs, to have won their opening three Premier League fixtures and has so far got more out of his Chelsea side than Jose Mourinho managed last season.
Still the Blues look light at the back and need at least one more defender before the transfer window shuts of Wednesday night.
