Newcastle United somehow managed to keep Rafa Benitez despite slipping into the Championship and with most of their players still in tact from last season they should come straight back up. But Rafa isn’t resting on his laurels.
Benitez wasn’t at fault for the Magpies relegation last season but the former Real Madrid boss, who went from Champions League to Championship in less than a year, was the man who eventually took them down.
Having only lost Georginio Wijnaldum, Andros Townsend and Fabricio Coloccini, from a squad that was often considered too good to go down last season, Newcastle were expected to shoot straight back up.
However so far they’ve found the Championship tougher going than they’d have hoped with two wins and two losses from four games. So it’s no surprise that Benitez has made a bid from a Premier League player, Tottenham’s DeAndre Yedlin:

Yedlin was actually on loan at the Geordie’s arch nemesis Sunderland last season but with Kyle Walker continuing to impress for Spurs there’s no room for him there.
With the American right back moving to St James’ Park, if that’s what it’s still called, they’ll be new rumours about Daryl Janmaat leaving the club.
