“I’m Not Happy About The Game, I Think We Didn’t Play Well Because Of The Man-On-Man Defending” – Jurgen Klopp

In his post-match interview, Klopp said, “I am not happy about the game. I think we didn’t play as good as we can play. We started a bit badly because of their kind of defending – which was man-on-man defending.”

Jurgen Klopp has lost just once in matches against Jose Mourinho’s teams and though he did not lose on Monday, he was not happy with his team’s performance on the night.

“Because of that, we were not brave anymore and did not play the right pass.

“We created offensive one-on-one situations against them but they defended well with their physical strength, which was better than what we had.”

It was Liverpool’s first clean sheet of the 2016/17 EPL season, even though Loris Karius almost gifted United a goal with a misplaced pass.

They did not create too many chances – maybe two in the second half and one of them we gave them.

We had two or three great saves from David De Gea but at the end, our performance was not how it should be.

Klopp then added [sarcastically], “It is our first clean sheet – Yippee! But that is all I am happy about.

Klopp added that Liverpool’s rhythm, pattern, and movement could have been disrupted by the absences through injury of Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana, who came off the bench in the second half.

With the barren draw, Liverpool moved into fourth position while United stayed in seventh place. Five points separate the first seven teams in the EPL, a situation that points to a very tight title race.
