Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has revealed he wants the number 10 shirt following the departure of Jack Wilshere on loan.
Since his arrival from Real Madrid, The German playmaker has been the Gunners’ main creator, churning out assists for the team. But the midfielder has hinted his interest in wearing the number 10 shirt following Wilshere’s departure to Bournemouth which could mean his preferred number will be available soon.
Ozil said: ‘Of course I have previously given those in charge a signal. The number is right for me and my position as a playmaker, The former Madrid star currently wears number 11 but will hope to nail the famous number 10 which was previously worn by club legend Dennis Bergkamp who also played similar role during his days at Arsenal.
However, the only stumbling block to Ozil getting his favoured number is the return of Wilshere, who is expected to stage a comeback to the arsenal squad after his season long loan at Bournemouth.
