Apple launches a red version of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The red aluminium phones will be going on sale globally. This device is as a result of Apple’s collaboration with AIDS charity Product(RED), which will get a portion of the sale of each red device.
Apple has been coloring some of its products red for a decade to help fight HIV/AIDS. Now, the company has decided to bring the same vibrant red color to its most popular product, the iPhone.
In a blog post on its website, Apple announced that it’s a result of a partnership between Apple and Product(RED). This way, the customers buying the red edition will be able to help fund Product(RED) charity’s work. A portion of each red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will go to the efforts being made in sub-Saharan Africa.
According to Product(RED), Apple has contributed more than $130 million in corporate donations.
This special red iPhone will be available for online orders worldwide and in stores from Friday, March 24. The new model starts shipping at $779.
